Travel To Relax – Is It Safe To Visit Cyprus?
I have recently been asked to visit the Mediterranean island of Cyprus on mission. My first reaction was to ask if Cyprus was a safe place to visit, given that I had some memories of recent problems in the area.
Indeed, when I examined the situation more closely, I realized that an island that is actually split in two. While the southern part of the island is run by a Cypriot government, favored by Greece, part of the north of the island is currently “occupied”.
The northern part of the island has a Turkish Cypriot government, following an invasion that took place in the 1970s.
Be a **** in a game between Turkey and Cyprus did not seem to be the safest place in the world and it did not escape me that Cyprus is very popular. much of the Middle East in terms of its geographical location (at the eastern end of the Mediterranean).
I decided to take some official advice on the safety of traveling on the island and I consulted the Foreign Office – I advise you to consult the Foreign Office, either directly, either via their website, if you’re ever sure about the security problems that entails traveling around the world.
The council is updated regularly and the first thing I noticed is that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is not officially recognized by Britain. The Republic of Cyprus, on the other hand, is a full member of the European Union.
In terms of security, the main concerns raised seem to be those of a terrorist attack (a threat shared with much of the rest). from Europe) and the dangers caused by high temperatures
It was also noted that Cyprus, like any other country in Europe, has its share of crime, but not as much as anywhere else on the continent.
An element that turned out to be true once arrived on the island was that Cypriots are not the best drivers – take care of the roads.
Overall, Cyprus is relatively safe place to travel. Take the usual precautions you would take when traveling and it seems that the advice of the Foreign Office is that you are well.
